Originally the blogskin was only compatible with IE. But I tweaked it a little and ta-daa! It now works on Chrome and Firefox. Sorry to my Chrome and Firefox readers for this long overdue update, heh. :P I'm lazy. But anyway cross-browser compatibility is important, yes? *nods*

Hi all,

This (mammoth!) post will be predominantly about MapleStory Adventures Quests Guide. FYI, Nexon recently released a Maple Flash game, titled MapleStory Adventures, which is a Facebook application. You can access it under here:

I won't go into details regarding the game technicalities (e.g. how to play etc. etc., the game pretty much explains it all.)

When you first enter you'll see this screen prompting you to choose either a Warrior or a Magician.

There isn't much difference between both classes since they get the same dmg-dealing skills (i.e. equivalent) apart from the range, visuals and differing specific job quests.

So, choose your job and customise your character, and you're good to go!

2. Empress' Shout (passive - Permanently adds 20% HP and MP)
3. Empress' Prayer (active - adds WA and MA by 4%. Cooldown is 24 hour PLAYTIME!!)
4. Empress' Might (wear eqs 10 lvls above you)

OHOHOH, every 10 levels till 90, you gain 1 extra SP to distribute to your special Cygnus skills (i.e. Souldriver, FlameGear, Shark Wave, Wind Piercing, Vampire.)

Hello all!

We had the Guild race more than a month ago, but because I've been really lazy and also busy with my other personal commitments, I've finally set aside now to post about it. I actually cropped most of the screenshots less than a week after the race, but procrastination has stalled further updates of it. *shudders :O* Until now. (:

NOTE: In my opinion, if you're wondering who the narrator is, and why he keeps reminding them of his return, I am willing to bet 10 cents that he is the DUAL BLADER. Erm I'm not actually sure 100%, but in my opinion I believe so, because, in KMS, the Dual Blader class was removed for quite some time, due to concerns. Mainly about it's uber-ness, so yea. Mm so their Dual Blader came back during the Chaos Update (he was gone in Big Bang.) So I feel that the narrator of this Chaos Update video is supposedly, the Dual Blader. Or at least, reading from his viewpoint. Just my 10 cents' worth ;)

Shows you the destroyed town of Henesys in some warped twisted dimension MUAHAHA. (Don't worry, Henesys is still there you twits).

Points to note:
1. Thought snails, mushrooms, slimes and pigs were weak?

WELL, THINK AGAIN.

They're much much much more strong and huge in the "future" Henesys. They're at least level 170, for you need to be 160 and above to even ENTER the destroyed area.

Technically, there'll be TWO Henesys towns after Chaos Update, ONE ORIGINAL, the other the "FUTURE", when Queen Cygnus and her fellow knights (Irina etc) turn EVIL!! Except for Ninehearts. I've always had a good spot for him, and I'm right! :D

So don't complain about the destruction of the current Henesys, because THAT'S NOT HAPPENING TWIT. -_-

2. Queen Cygnus, WHYY?

Exploration gone really wrong. Queen Cygnus and our 5 beloved knights ventured to the World Tree (Sounds like Warcraft LOL! >D). But it was a trap, set by the Black Mage (yes, he's back! And better. And stronger.)

He snatched their souls from them, and they are under his bidding now. :O

3. NEW JOBS, NEW SKILLS.

JOBS: yea, Resistance (Wild Hunter, Battle Mage), and Mechanic.
SKILLS:

A. Aran, Evan and Dual Blader got new skills. But I forgot, so yea.

B. aha! Maple is learning from LaTale ahhhh ;X They got mining! And jewelry and herbalists and smithing and I DON'T KNOW LAR. Go watch the video, I'm lazy F3.

C. Adventurers' skills change a little (Skills better, skills worser, you decide)/

P.S. There are rumours that if you have a level 120 CYGNUS character, you can get an Ultimate Adventurer. No details yet, but Silent'll probably find it out soon. Meanwhile he's going to get his KoC to higher levels.

And to think people hesitate when creating a KoC because they feel that as it stops at 120, it is not as time-effective as training any other character.

For now, Silent will work on it, and I will be the weirdo who types weirdly who updates you with his findings.

Hello, and welcome!

This guide is not designed to give you fashion advice, neither is it to encourage people to spend money, or otherwise. Rather, it hopes to comprehensively cover most aspects of the Beauty Parlour in MapleSEA, i.e. Hair (styles, colour), Face (styles), and Eyes (colour).

In MapleSEA, there are various forms of coupons sold in the Cash Shop that’s related to the Beauty Parlour. Each town has a set of coupons which give players styles found in that town.

Such coupons are:

a. HAIR

Legendary Hair Coupon (6.5k @cash) – changes your hair to a style that’s UNRELEASED yet.

[EVENT] EXPeriment A Coupon (12k @cash) – Bring this coupon to Big Headward in Henesys, who will change your hair that is UNRELEASED, and which cannot be currently obtained with the Legendary Hair Coupon.

Hair Style Coupon (REG) (5k @cash) – changes your hairstyle randomly among current styles available in that town.

Hair Style Coupon (VIP) (12k @cash) – allows you to choose your choice of hairstyle from current styles in that town.

Hair Colour Coupon (REG) (4.5k @cash) – changes your hair colour randomly among current colours available in that town.

Hair Colour Coupon (VIP) (10k @cash) – allows you to choose your choice of hair colour from the colours available in that town.

b. FACE

Plastic Surgery Coupon (REG) (5k @cash) - changes your face style randomly, among current face styles available in that town.

Plastic Surgery Coupon (VIP) (12k @cash) - allows you to choose your choice of face style from current styles in that town.

c. EYE COLOUR

Anonymous #1's Beginner Guide [EXPLORERS]

Hello, a guide. As stated in the title.

Actual author of guide has chosen to remain anonymous. :O How mysterious.

Anonymous #1's tips and tricks for EXPLORERS on how to quickly level from 1 to 30. Note: This guide does not cover basic interface like how to talk to NPCs, etc.

From level 1 to 10/8 (if choosing path of Mage), do the Maple Island quests.

DO NOT waste time on "Yoona's Shopping List" and "New Life". These are not worth the time spent completing.

Once you have reached level 10, head to Lith Harbour and talk to Olaf, who will give you EXP. DO NOT do the "Exploring Lith Harbour" quest, it's not worth it, trust me. Now, talk to the statue which represents the job you're going to pick. e.g. if you're planning to be a thief, talk to the thief statue.

Once you've gotten yourself a job, DO ALL the training quests from your respective job instructor. These quests give good EXP and potions, which will aid you in your journey.

At level 15 (the training quests should have finished by now) head to Thailand: Floating Market, and do Toon's quest - the one that requires 10 screws. You can get screws by completing "John's Pink Flower Basket" quest. Note that his jump quest is repeatable. By completing Toon's quest, you'll get good EXP.

At level 16, complete the Andras/Crocell/etc quest. It's a fairly long quest (talk to your respective job instructors), but you'll get a cool hat unique to your job, and good EXP. (E.g. the Andras hat adds 12 STR, for Warriors).

You should be level 18 by now. If you have at least 30k mesos to spare, head to Singapore: Boat Quay Town and talk to Dave & Iris. Head to Shanghai and talk to Cho, paying him 20k. You get Nearest Town Scrolls, and 20k EXP which is sufficient for you to advance to level 19.

At level 19, after completing the Hat quest, talk to your job instructors and collect all 5 Notes. Keep and bring them to the Rememberer in Sleepywood. Complete the quest.

Complete the Rememberer's quests, and upon completion you should be level 20+. At level 24, do his "Strange Mushrooms" quest. You should reach 25+ upon completion.

From here on, GRIND-TIME! Stay at Mushroom Growing Cave, a Sleepywood Dungeon. It can be assessed from a portal in Ant Tunnel II.

Yay! That's about it.

Rebalance patch?

Asiasoft Forums have been abuzzed with the latest topic: The Rebalance Patch in Korean MS.

One of the most talked-about parts in the patch: Bishop's Genesis. This spamming skill commonly used by many Bishops has been drastically revamped, according to the source.

The new gene (apparently):
Lv30: -600 MP, hits 15 enemies for 1300% damage. 30 second cooldown.

Which means, less MP needed to cast Gene, but. a cooldown. There have been many differing views on this topic, mostly against.

FOR: There will be less leechers. This is because with the cooldown, spamming can no longer be, well, spammed. And thus exp gained is less. (However EXP needed to level has been reduced drastically, with a cut of up to 33%.)

AGAINST: Cooldown? Also, if the supposed intention of this is to reduce the amount of leechers, it may have other consequences. Although many people will not be willing to leech now, with less leechers, spam service may be cheaper. This is because: how much exp can you gain if Gene is cast TWICE in 1 min? If spam service is cheaper, some people (who previously never considered getting spam service) may do so.

(NOTE: Other magicians' 4th job skills have not been discussed, I'm not too sure whether those will be 'revamped' like Gene as well, but I won't say no. In my opinion, it's likely that they'll revamp the F/P's Meteor and I/L's Blizzard as well, it's only fair.)

MOREOVER. PQs have been revamped. There are now no MAXIMUM level limits. Hence, Kerning PQ is open to all level 21s to 200s. Can you imagine what will happen?

FOR: Yay, I can relive my PQ days. :D Which also means that for PQs such as Lord Pirate, where you have to defeat the boss a certain amount of times to get the Hat, you can do so now. ALSO, the lower-levels may gain from this, because now there'll be a greater mixture and variety of people. Thus PQs can be done faster.

AGAINST: Level 200s probably will not go to KPQ, but the level 30s will, and these people will rob the level 20s of their PQ spots. Who wants to invite a lower-level when you can invite somebody who's higher-level?

Whether it's going to happen to MSEA, I don't think anybody's sure of that yet.

Rickz was introduced to us by wyte last year, in our first ever Maple Race (speaking of the Race, silent and I are organising another one at the end of this year).

Just to make sure you were not overly bombarded by that-oh-so-much information, I'll explain...slowly.

MSNoobSterZ is on version 0.05! I know it seems kind of bleh to put it that way, so I've come up with a more interesting name. Presenting to you, *drum rolls* VERSION 0.05 MSNOOBSTERZ OFFICIAL GUILD WEBLOG TEMPLATE, THEME: BLUE - ON CLOUD NINE!

Too much? Try this then: Our current theme is that of "Blue: On Cloud Nine!"

Just to recap, in case you've forgotten, or if it's your first time here and you think I'm nuts, the idea of themes surfaced early this year.

The weblog will be more versatile, more hip, and more themed!

Our previous template was that of RED. That was a special one. :) Actually, all my themes are special. ^^ The red one was to celebrate the (Chinese) Lunar New Year and (the Western) Valentine's Day. Oh, isn't this just reflective of all that talk on biculturalism? *smiles sweetly* And it's red, because the Chinese consider red to be an auspicious colour, and hearts are also red. =)

So I'll introduce in a new colour every few months (years! Just kidding. xD ), and the header picture will reflect that theme as well, hopefully.

Movie Review: How to Train Your Dragon

I have two words for you:

GO WATCH!

I watched the 2D version of "How to Train Your Dragon" at one of the Golden Village cinemas yesterday.

Let me just say that, as any ordinary movie-goer, I can understand why it's the top ranking movie as of last Thursday's LifeStyle! movie ratings.

Okay, I'll tell you all what the movie's about, both a short and a more detailed version. The more detailed version will include spoilers!

The short version:

This movie is about wimpy Hiccup, a young teen who just wishes to do his father, the chief of their Viking village, proud. However, when Hiccup befriends a dragon and takes it as his pet, things start taking a turn even he never expected. Watch the movie to find out more! Grah, go watch! It's still in the cinemas now, and I highly recommend it. We all need a good heartwarming film now and then. :)

Now, the long version:

The movie starts off with a voiceover by our protagonist, Hiccup. Hiccup is what you'll picture as a wimp, the unlikely hero, who all along has harboured thoughts of becoming something great. He's always mocked, and..you know that kind of thing. At the beginning, he uses quite long words, which will probably be too cheem for younger kids to understand. However, fret not, younger kids, the long words get replaced quite soon. :)

The opening is very interesting and cinematic, with Hiccup describing the 'pests' in his Viking village - dragons, not the usual rodents and insects and whatnots. But dragons! I can almost picture everything in 3D. It'll be WOW. It'll knock you off your feet, haha!

Hiccup describes his village, a coastal community, probably not far from Iceland. You know, where Vikings live. Apparently, the Vikings treat the Dragons as pests, and will not hesitate to kill them. However, one type of Dragon has yet to be seen nor hit. Known as the NightFury, none of the Vikings have yet to see one - or maybe they did, but didn't live to tell the tale.

Ironically, Hiccup's father is the chief of this village. Hiccup, being an apprentice blacksmith (I hope that's the right description), wants to live up to his father's name, and do him proud. So he ventures out, despite the obvious danger outside. He brings along a net-firing machine, and when all is quiet, he sees a shape flying in the sky. He aims, and fires! The net hits the dragon, and it spirals out of sight. Just as he is busy rejoicing, a dragon comes out, and Hiccup's dad, who sees the dragon, quickly lunges forward and save his son from imminent danger.

As his father carries - yes, CARRIES - Hiccup back to the house in front of all the villagers, our protagonist keeps insisting that he has shot a NightFury, but of course, he must have said it many times before, so his dad does not believe him.

The next day, Hiccup sets out to find that dragon he shot down, so that he can prove to his father that he was right. Ha! He ventures, and eventually comes across the creature entangled in the net. As Hiccup saunters forward with a small dagger in his hand, he trembles as he stands in front of the beast, hesitating. In the end, he drops the dagger, and ends up freeing the dragon. The dragon quickly pounces on Hiccup, but instead of killing him, the dragon then fled. Hiccup faints just moments after he stood up.

The scene reopens again at his house, where he had just entered, and had saw his father. His father and him both start speaking at the same time. The father announces to him that he has allowed Hiccup to attend dragon training classes, just as Hiccup did not wish to anymore. Why this is so, we can only guess. But we do know that he has a soft spot for the dragons - he didn't dare to kill one just now, so he was not too sure of dragon training classes, where you fight dragons and may eventually have to kill one.

From this scene, we can tell that Hiccup is not very close to his father. They do not seem to understand each other very well.

When he shows up at dragon training class next day, nobody there seems to like him. Of course, his crush, Astrid, is there. But like the others she does not think anything of him.

Hiccup sets off to find the freed dragon, having confirmed with his teacher the fact that dragons will never let humans go alive. So the dragon yesterday... Hiccup is confused too, and decides to find that dragon.

He eventually finds it in this bowl-like area with a small lake in the centre. He realises that one half of the dragon's tail had been torn off, and the dragon was thus unable to fly out.

Over the next few days, hilarity ensues as Hiccup tries to befriend the dragon, whom he names Toothless. Heartwarming scenes of boy and dragon will surely touch your heart. Hiccup manages to fly the dragon - how he did so, I won't say. Go watch. He also discovers some neat tricks, like where to tickle a dragon such that it'll fall asleep etc. All this comes in handy during his classes, where his teacher believes in hands-on training. By now, his classmates had warmed up to him, and were starting to be friends with him.

However, always aiming for the best, star student Astrid gets suspicious of him. In the meantime, Hiccup's father, along with many of the Vikings, have set off to find the elusive dragons' lair, to put a stop to all that stealing of food and animals. They didn't find anything. Hiccup and Toothless form a close bond.

However, when Astrid discovers the 2 of them one day, Hiccup has no choice but to tell her, and make her keep a secret. They fly on Toothless, who unexpectantly brings them to the dragons' lair. :o Where they discover that the dragons are only stealing food to feed a giant (bully) dragon. Sort of like worker bees and a queen bee.

In the meantime, having excelled in all his classes, he has been chosen as the one with the honour to slay a dragon in front of the whole village, yay. Hiccup knows he cannot do it, and wonders about it. He also makes Astrid promise not to say anything about the dragons' lair, yet.

During the test, Hiccup decides to prove to the whole village that dragons are harmless, and that they have been seriously misunderstood. However, his plan goes awry when his father and some villagers anger the dragon. As the dragon pounces on Hiccup, his screams of terror awaken Toothless, who immediately starts frantically trying to get out of the bowl-place to save his best friend.

Toothless shows up and wrestles the dragon. The villagers watch in shock, and finally, the dragon is put away, and the elusive NightFury has been pinned down and subdued by villagers, much to Hiccup's horror and pleas.

Whilst Hiccup pleads with his dad to release his pet, he inadvertently discloses the fact about the dragons' lair, implying that he had been there with Toothless. His father immediately plots a course to the lair, chaining poor Toothless and getting him to lead the way.

Hiccup can only stand and watch as the fleet of ships make their way to the dragons' lair. Astrid, however, comes over and comforts him, motivating him to take the next step. Hiccup makes a bold move, bringing his classmates flying on dragons to the lair to help.

Meanwhile, the Vikings had found the lair. A skirmish ensues between them and the big dragon, and just as all hope seems lost, the teenagers fly in and start distracting the dragon, whilst Hiccup goes to find Toothless. As Toothless was chained to the ship, and the big dragon had engulfed the ships in flames, causing them to sink, Toothless was drowning!

Hiccup dives in to save him, but his hands are just too weak to break apart the wooden cuff thing. His father dives in and brings him out. He then dives back in and rescues Toothless, even managing an apology to his son, for misunderstanding him. Aww~

Hiccup, on Toothless, decides to lead the big dragon to the sky, with a plan in mind, of course. Toothless blasts the dragon's wings and tail, and quickly comes in front of the big dragon, tempting him to open his mouth. However, just at that moment, Toothless turns around and blasts the dragon right in his mouth. As the dragon struggles, he panics. He opens his wings, only to find that the holes in them grew bigger, and as he falls and hits the ground, a giant explosion occurs.

However, Toothless and Hiccup are falling, too, as the substitute tail Hiccup made was going up in flames. Oh no! Hiccup accidentally falls off his dragon, and as he falls into the burning inferno below, Toothless dives in to save him...

The scene reopens again with Hiccup's father coming into the smoke, desperately trying to find his son. He discovers Toothless hunched up, and fears the worst.

Toothless unveils his wings, to reveal Hiccup in between his claws, safe. And almost in one piece.

When Hiccup comes to, he realises he is in his house, and Toothless is with him. In a final twist, Hiccup realises that the part of his leg, halfway below the knee, has been 'amputated', and had been replaced with a metal device.

As he hobbles on his dragon to make his way out of the house to the cheering village outside, it is interesting to note that both the dragon and his owner are handicapped, now, in a certain way - Toothless' left tail (which has been gone all along), and now, Hiccup's left leg as well.

It is indeed, I feel, a fitting ending to things.

As Hiccup stands outside his house amidst a bustling village, he realises that there are dragons everywhere! Now that they have no 'master' to serve, they do not steal food anymore, and the villagers have befriended them as well. Hiccup's teacher/mentor hands him a replacement tail for Toothless, and as he mounts his dragon, along with his friends, and flies off, he makes an equally fitting ending.

He ends the movie with a narration too, similar in style to the opening, just that the situation he described was exactly the opposite.

The movie makes use of a lot of reiteration and emphasis, which I feel is very commendable.

Especially the opening and the end - narrating in the same style as the beginning, it does serve as a good closure to the end of an equally good movie.

Picture Updates

Okay, I've uncovered this function in Adobe Illustrator that will trace your drawings for you. -_-" Which means that I wasted so much time tracing, zzz. And as you all can see, the quality of the colouring isn't very good, because pixels are lost when I pour paint, blah blah.

So now I'm going to photocopy the original drawing, and continue drawing, using correction tape to correct flaws. Then I'll scan it in (hopefully, if my dad sets up the scanner-printer in time) or take a photo, preferably the first.

Then I'll use Illustrator to colour it in, touch up, instead of Corel. :D Because I can add in gradients etc in Illustrator easily.

I just confused you, didn't I? =P

Reflections and notes

The whole incident came back to me only after seeing that same person again yesterday, in the same map.

For a moment I thought that he'll come kill me or something, after what we did the other day.

But he didn't. In fact, he just spent his whole time leeching at the top of the house. And when another party member asked the leader why so, the leader calmly replied that it was his (the person leeching, and the person in question) map. (Therefore he could leech.)

Oh, the unfairness of the great world!

Okay, let me explain before launching into this post, lest anybody of you get lost, which I'm sure, many already have.

A few days ago, my friend and I were accepted into this person's party, in where else, but ESW. The leader, let's just call him Z, had a ringer in party as well, and I think the leader wanted us to pay for the ringer as well.

Of course, both my friend and I were reluctant. I didn't even want a ringer! With the leader leeching our precious exp, what difference will a ringer make? Won't Z still get more exp than us? In my point of view, I felt that it was unfair that he was to charge us, and then start leeching simply because it was "his map". Put it blatantly, I wasn't happy with him.

Whatsmore, he said something about:

"I'm very nice de, I paid the ringer more than you'll pay." (Transcribed in better grammar than the original)
i.e. "I'm supposed to pay 1/3, (there were 3 of us in the party, don't count the ringer) I paid more than that. Therefore you pay less than what you're supposed to pay."

Whatever.

Some guy came in about 20 or so minutes later, warning us of a KS-er on the loose.

True to words, about 40 or so minutes after first joining Z's stinky party, the KS-er came.

At the moment, my friend suggested leaving the party and running off. We had had no intentions of paying for the ringer at all. Z will see to it that the ringer will be paid.

So my friend left the party, in the midst of the chaos the lousy KS-er was causing. Now, I say 'lousy' because he kept missing the mobs, which is a rather funny sight to behold, especially since he's meant to be KS-ing.

I followed suit.

We went back to town, and changed channel.

For the record, let me say that I have never done something like this before. Only when we were safe away in channel 1, many scenes away from ESW, then did I feel a sense of euphoria.

For once, I felt euphoric, and truly, truly, happy. I was excited, like a kid who's just been given pocket money in a candy store. I remember I kept laughing, and I felt so...carefree, for that moment anyway.

I was excited, happy, and nervous. All at once. I kept hinting to my friend my sudden rush of exhilaration and euphoria, but I don't think he really seemed to notice, or care. Oh well.

I don't really remember what happened next.

But, after my friend had logged off, and I was wandering about aimlessly - not quite sure of what to do, did I suddenly feel miserable. Yes, miserable. The feeling of euphoria had worn off, and in its place was misery.

I felt miserable suddenly, and I didn't know why.

Now, a different incident. Let's just call this person involved Y.

Y, truth be told, when you asked me, I was kind of reluctant to help. It's nothing personal, just that:
1) I had really gtg, my parents were scolding.
2) You were a bit far away.
3) I felt you were mildly unreasonable.

Now, I'm not lamblasting you or anything, nor taking this opportunity to talk bad about you, but. I feel that both you and I have lots to work on, if we wish to understand each other better.

When I told you I had no space, it was true. I sold you some of my own pots in the end as well, I hope you don't mind. But I didn't expect your reaction to my comment. I felt that it was unreasonable. If all my stuff were that useless and worthless, why would I be keeping it in the first place? Now, I don't wish to start a fight, I just wish to come clean. Okay, so don't misunderstand my intentions.

When I reached you, I knew you were already mildy agitated by the ongoing argument between you and somebody else. I, for one, couldn't really be bothered. Truth be told, all I wanted was to pass you the stuff, and leave.

So I admit I may have been a bit obnoxious then, typing so fast and rushing you. But you need to understand that as well. Both you and I have faults, and I'm not ashamed nor abashed to write them all here.

When I did my calculations in the window, I know that you assumed that I thought of you in a certain way, which is not true. It was just a habit of mine to calculate in the other person's face, lest misunderstandings arise. I know I was kinda blatant and rude in the window, and I apologise for that.

But when you said that I said that you were poor, that's not the truth. Don't jump to conclusions, Y, I never said nor hinted that. So I'm sorry I offended you. But, you too, you have fault, not just me. For it takes two hands to clap.

You shouldn't have jumped to baseless conclusions. Since when did I hint so?

And when you tried to throw money in my face, you made things worse. I got angry. I was rushed, and angry.

When I apologised to you, I didn't really mean it then. It was the only way, I knew, to salvage whatever's left of our superficial acquaintance. But I was glad then that you kind of accepted it.

I feel ashamed of it now, really.

I'm sorry.

That's slightly better.

But enough of that. Enough of digging up the past.

I'm secretly glad that I'm typing this more than a day after that incident, because, over the past many hours, I've had had loads of time to think things through, reflect, and ponder upon them. Rather than rushing into a post immediately after the incident, and typing things which I'll end up regretting.

I'm glad I chose to wait instead.

Y, I know after that incident, you'll be prejudiced against me, and I'll be prejudiced against you. Which is half true, I must admit, with regards to the latter. It's hard to view you without my tinted lenses now, and I don't like that.

I'll try my best to get rid of those tinted lenses, but really, I need you to remove yours as well.

Can't we have a proper, civilised conversation without either you scolding people vulgarities, or me feeling angry behind the computer, ready for violence? So far, we both have had no good conversations with each other. Either bad, neutral, or lukewarm. And that's not a good sign.

But we can change that, I know we can, Y. It's not like I'm asking anything more than a simple friendship.

I would grade our current interaction as "Grade-1 superficial neutral", i.e. close to a F-, if I must say so.

Can't we try to promote that to a higher level, like maybe a "Grade-1 lukewarm"? I know the phrasing's odd, but then again, I'm feeling out of sorts now. So it doesn't really matter.

Half of me hopes that you'll see this, the other half hopes you'll never ever find it.

I hope that, if you do view this post (the later half), you'll take off your tinted lenses as well, and maybe view me in a better light, rather than be judgemental and base my character on a few not-so-good incidents.

I'm willing to try to befriend you, but, you have to try as well. Can we just put aside our differences and view each other in unbiased lights?

I know you're capable of that, I hope I'm capable of that.

For, like I said, it takes two hands to clap.

Hello, shall take a brief 10 minute break from my homework, to blog a little (hopefully this does not turn out rubbish-y).

Well, firstly, updates on my life. Nothing much, and I shall say no more, no less.

However, if you do not think dissection is disgusting, and you wish to know more about what I'll be doing with regards to dissection, you may want to highlight the text here: I'll be dissecting an eyeball tomorrow during lesson. *gives that funny face, which is somewhat between a shocked and a should-i-laugh kind of look* :O So gross right! Yea yea, I know people EAT eyeballs, but still. I don't eat them :O So I personally find it disgusting lar, although I won't wish to impose my views on those who do count eyeballs in their diets. :) How squeamish. Can you imagine, the thing rolling about whilst I hold my scalpel above it and attempt to cut through what appears to be a rolling fishball. Gosh. Oh, did I just say fishballs? The eyeballs are sitting in my fridge now (I'm bringing one for my friend), and my mum and brother outside are making silly eyeball jokes. They're not the ones dissecting it. =/ And the eyeballs are right next to the potato chips in my fridge. >_> Luckily my brother's unaware of that. :D

Okay, don't say I gross you out hor. I did give a warning. And it was your own choice to highlight the whole chunk of text there. :)

Hey guildmates, alliance members, and random readers!

The current weblog skin is for CNY and VDay ONLY (yes, the red one. According to Gen, 'ang ang' xD ). So, have to come up with a new one soon. :)

Would appreciate it if anybody has any suggestions for the header picture (The main picture at the top of the blog).

Currently, ideas I have in mind for the drawing are:

1. Field! People surrounded by flowers and grass. Although I can't draw flowers OR grass.

2. City! Sitting down on the floor/chair and drinking bubbletea or something like that.

3. Beach! Maybe attempting to build a sandcastle above somebody?

4. Studio picture (like the ones you take in school every year: class photo! and the like.)

5. Candid shot :D Really random, maybe the background can be a park by the beach or something? Then got scenery mah.

6. No picture. (...)

A weird, weird, world

I did/experienced two *weird* things today.

1) Stalked random people's blogs.

2) Became friends with a random person.

1), this person mega-ed the blog address out loud a few days ago. Since I was KPO, and had nothing else to do just now (I gave up mapling because the lag drove me nuts), I decided to pay the blog a visit.

Okay, not much *substantial* content, mostly a blog dedicated to this Maple couple. They post screenshots of themselves together, post sweet nothings to each other blah. But cute and refreshing nonetheless, not like those posts by emo people, or those by heartbroken youths.

2) HAHA. Ok, White____, if you're see-ing this right now (which I really doubt, but you never know who looks at blogs~), you may wish to carry on reading, so you know how I'll describe you to my *lovely* readers here.

I made a trip to Henesys from Malaysia to do Ace of Hearts' quest. (Gives fame, and I'm a sucker for fame! xD) Then, this person *ahem* said:

"rockowner?"

I went: "?" (which is my standard expression for situations like these).

He: "IT'S YOU?"

Oh, so you know me lar. As the conversation went on (with me in Henesys hunting ground 1 finding chocolates and lagging so badly) he buddied me.

Then, when I asked:

"so, do you know me?"

He went something along the lines of:

"you're making me very confused =="

>_> Talk about CONFUSED!

After a while, managed to sort out everything.

I: "so you don't know me lar."

He: "yeah".

Okay then, that's settled. :D Not confused anymore.

Today, our guild turns two. So much has happened in the last 2 years. As we grew older, wiser, the guild grew too. We shared our joys and sorrows, gains and pains, went through thick and thin - as one united people.

The guild would not be where it is today without support and dedication from all MSNoobSterZ members, be it past or present. Because of YOU - yes, you! - the guild has grown from a tiny community of 6, to a more close-knit and bonded guild, nearly 30-strong. Because of you, the guild has grown to be a hospitable haven, filled with friendly faces. Entwining bonds of camaraderie and strong friendship have been formed between some members. It heartens me to see this prospect.

Because of you, today is possible. :)

The little seedling bursts through the earth, emerging in the brilliant sunlight. Motivated by the comforting touch of the radiant sun, it pushes and stretches its way upwards. Extending its leaves to receive the precious sunlight, the little seedling feels rejuvenated and energised.

I know it sounds cliche, but I would wish to use this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to the loyal supporters; no words can express my thanks for you. :)

You have been so helpful, so nice. For example, whenever anybody got KS-ed, or needed any help, I would always see people selflessly stepping forward, to volunteer themselves and extend their help. These little acts of kindness and friendship may not seem much, but it matters a lot to the 'victim', and to me. It may not seem like a lot, nor does it seem like it can change the world overnight, but it matters. Trust me. :)

Slowly but surely, the seedling matures into an adult plant, under the shade of the parent tree. Under the watchful presence of the sun and the tree, beautiful flowers blossom on the plant. Fruits are borne, and they drop to earth upon ripening, carrying with them the precious seeds of the parent plant. The seeds find themselves soon embedded in the ground, lying dormant in wait of the next rain to descend from the heavens.

I know that we have much to improve on. I know that we are still considered as a young guild, not yet fully mature. But, I know that we can do this together. You and me. And her and him and them. And us.

For I know that we all have potential. Untapped potential. Lying in wait for the right opportunity.

Why not use those gifts to better our guild? Together, we can contribute ideas, introduce new guidelines, and improve our system for the better. Together, we can do it.

This journey that we are embarking on is full of surprises and adventures.

Treasures to be found. Friendships to be forged. Knowledge to be gained.

You never know what awaits you until you set off on your journey; you will never know what could happen next, be it good or bad. It could be the littlest of things, the most trivial experience, or a fantastical life-changing event. But no matter. Whenever you feel down, don't be. :) Always remember that there's a guild here in the world that supports you. :)

On this note, I wish to end off the MSNoobSterZ 2nd Anniversary Commemorative post. :D

Hi all,

Just returned from a rather long walk. Spent my time telling my brother about my flash game, and discussed flume rides (Physics!) with my dad on the walk back.

Anyway, came here to tell you all a little story.

Came home from school on wednesday, as usual. But this time I was earlier than my mum.

Anyway, my mum reached home in about 20 minutes or so, relaying to me a story.

She was walking out of the lift, when she saw this guy distributing flyers. You know that kind. They go door to door and place flyers at your doorstep. Well, THIS guy was happily humming music to himself whilst doing his job. Okay, so he was really cheerful. You ask me, "so what?" I say, "listen on".

So, what was interesting was that this guy was distributing A4-sized flyers. But instead of chucking them to the space between the gate and the door, he carefully folded them into halves, which he then halved again. He folded neatly, and placed it nicely, wedging it between the gate and its frame, at the side.

Now, before we jump to conclusions, I personally would think that at least he made the effort to fold them NICELY and put them NICELY. Which is a good thing.

Although, yes, you may rebutt. But, the fact is that he made the effort. It may be superficial, but he put in that extra effort.

At least he bothered. It reflects well on him; a good work ethic and all that. I know there's many loopholes in my conclusion, but I personally think so. Even if he was just pretending, at least he made an effort to pretend, which I feel, is great. =)

Monster Carnival 1 (MC) Comments

(Okay, going straight to the point because I have homework to do.)

I am sure many of you have been to Monster Carnival (Season 1) before, or MC1 as many call it. Well, below are some of my feedbacks regarding MC, having been through it several times using different characters, and following recounts by others.

Firstly, I feel that there needs to be greater transperency between the two opposing teams. This is because, nowadays, many parties opt for a "swap win", which is thus far defined as the two teams taking turns to win. This is if course, built on a certain mutual understanding and trust. Furthermore, many parties engaging in swap wins lay down certain criterion, for example, by summoning only certain mobs and certain 'protectors', and the prohibition of skills (some skills can stun a member of the opposing party and leave him/her vulnerable and helpless for a few seconds).

These criterion are laid down before the match begins, and parties are obliged to follow through, as it is considered part of the "mutual agreement" between both teams. Failure to do so would leave the offending party insults, and possibly defames. The victimised party may also publicly declare them as 'scammers'.

Moreover, I have witnessed situations whereby the party leader refuses to summon anything for the other party, and the poor party member(s) are left to do the summoning. Of course, with one person unwilling to summon, it is often the fact that the other member(s) will be unable to summon all that the other team has demanded, and that both have agreed on, as a general consensus. Thus such, I have witnessed situations whereby the other party end up defaming a random member of the party (the one whose member/party leader refuses to summon). This causes undue stress and trouble for both sides.

There have also been instances whereby some parties break the protocol and end up using summoning skills. Now, let me clarify on this point. Summoning skills (e.g. stun, poison etc) are different from Daze Marbles. Daze Marbles are picked up, and do not require Carnival Points to summon. Currently, all of the swap wins I have gone through do not disallow daze marbles, rather only one or two have requested nicely for me to avoid picking them up.

However, there have been cases whereby some parties purposely use the "Stun" skill, which uses CP. For those who watch the opponents' CP closely (like me), it will become fairly obvious after a while. But, there are people who will not notice, especially if this breach occurs only a few times.

Despite the fact that it may only occur a few times, it is however unfair. If this was agreed on to be prohibited, what gives the other party the right to summon it? It is clearly a breach of trust and mutual understanding.

Following these observations, here are my comments and feedback, with a possible suggestion:

In order to make things more transparent, I believe that the only way out is to enable the other party to see what you have summoned, and what skills you cast. This will apply mainly to swap wins. How the system works:

Before the match begins, at the waiting zone, there will be a checkbox. This checkbox will read: "Do you wish to allow the other team to know what you have summoned (mobs, protectors and skills). It is not compulsory." And then the person just clicks yes or no.

Let us imagine a scenario whereby Team A (which has 2 people) is fighting Team B (which also has 2 people). One of A's members, Person One, checked the box, thus allowing B to see what he does. However, Person Two from A did not. So, let's say Person One summoned a Rombot. Now, B's members will see in their chatbox:

[Person One] from Team A has summoned Rombot (1).

Then now Person Two summoned a Rombot too. However, Team B would be unable to see that.

Whilst I do agree that this process has numerous flaws, for example, not everyone would check the box, BUT if you know that you won't be doing anything stupid, you'll most probably agree. For example, the other party specifically asked you not to use the skill "Stun", then if you know you have a clear conscience, and that you won't try sneaky tactics and summon it, then most likely you'll agree.

I mean, you have nothing to lose. And if the other party has doubts about your party, then this is the chance to prove that there is nothing sneaky about your party! Whatsmore, if you are not willing to agree to the 'transparency box', then people will get even more suspicious about you.

Another advantage of this is that, now everybody cannot just blame the party leader, or a given member in a party. F3. For example, you know somebody in that party used "Stun", and the 'transparency box' supports you, then you know who to defame and scold later. F3. *evil grin* Rather than blame it on an innocent person.

Thus, this is a suggestion I have, regarding MC1. I feel that it may improve (swap win) things a little, because now you are absolutely sure that the other party is telling the truth. I have seen cases surface because of this, and trust me, it's not a pretty sight.

With that thought in mind, I end this mini essay. Thank you!

Goodbye 2009, and welcome to a new decade in history! You, me, everyone, we're all part of this together! So stand up now, and cheer! Because, it is two-oh-one-oh! (or twenty-ten, if you must insist)

Stand up, wherever you are, and welcome in the New Year! It's 9.20 in the morning now, meaning 9 hours and 20 minutes have lapsed since 2010 officially started for my country (GMT +8.00). But it's not too late to still cheer! Woo~~

Hahas, after effects of the 'party' early this morning still affects me. J., I blame you too. F3.

Looking back at 2009, I would say that it has been a rather challenging year. Our guild's first birthday passed on 18th January, 2008. From then on, we have been through turbulent and rough times. 2009 saw the emergence of a new group of 3rd job-bers, new guildmembers - which are a welcome addition to our lovely family, I hope you feel the same way too! - new challenges, and new experiences.

2009 posed a great deal of challenges actually. I know there was a period of time when I wasn't very loyal (ahem), but luckily I returned back and found myself on the right track. =) I know, too, that in 2009, v0.04 of the guild weblog template was released. It may have been a let-down to some, but to me, it was well worth the effort. Yay #FFCC33 and #66FFFF! =) I know that wytemagician became our first 'home-grown' member to reach 3 digits! Woo! And to borrow one of Rickz's expressions, the whole guild is a giant tree, I am the soil, all members are little saplings (nen ya er in Chinese. F3), and wyte is a young plant, laboriously reaching out to the sunlight, and extending its little leaves, growing, growing, day by day. =)

2009 was not without failures too. The incompletion of our GPQs reflects that fact, but I reckon it should be sorted out soon enough. KS-es, scams, hacks. All those bad experiences were experienced by an unlucky few of our guildmembers, which, I must add, is a really sad fact of online gaming.

Which leads me to wonder too, regarding our ultimate goal. Some say it's to go to level 200 and receive the recognition and fame you so richly deserve. Others tell me it's to simply follow your dreams. But I think the true essence of our guild's goal has yet to be uncovered, yet to be achieved. The reason why this guild was created in the first place was actually to help others in need. (Of course, if you can't even help yourself, let's not talk about helping others.)

But, whilst we usher in the new year with much fanfare, let us not lose sight of this goal. It is a tedious and painstaking journey there, but I know that we can do it. We can accomplish so much. I know we can. I believe in all of us. But my belief is not enough. I need yours too. I need you to believe in this goal. Only when we all believe in it, and work towards it, can we succeed. Only then can we discover the true essence of what it means to be in MSNoobSterZ.

I need your help, because I cannot do this alone. This is not a journey a solo musketeer can undertake. This is a journey which we must all set out on together. I say 'we' because there is no 'I' in 'team'. So, let us work on the continuous improvement of our guild!

Let us work together!

Reflections

As I write this post, I'm looking out of the window at the sky.

Thinking.

Thinking about what has happened during the past few hours, the past few days, the past few weeks even! So much has happened. So much, that I am unable to write them all down for fear of losing my readers or my sanity.

But I'll just list out 2 unpleasant memorable incidents. I say they're unpleasant, because they made me have negative thoughts and feel negative emotions. But I say memorable because they are. Some people say that unpleasant things are more memorable than pleasant ones. Now, I won't jump to conclusions, but for this case, it is true. Good things did come out of those 2 experiences, no doubt, but, pondering through them now, I still think that they are rather post-worthy. In part because I can criticise and lament, and in part because I feel the need to point out those good things as well.

Last week (Or was it the week before? I can't remember when, which I suppose, is a good thing. Because bad things ought not to be remembered), we organised a GPQ (Keane's idea, not mine). Realising that we have a stunning lack of mages with level 17 teleport, a few of us decided to go to the Free Market and recruit. From a biased perspective, I never really fancied that idea. But we had no choice. It was either this, or we call off the GPQ, because we will be unable to complete the 2nd stage, which, is, in my opinion, un-productive.

But enough of that. To the main point.

So we went to the FM in Channel 20. We asked something along the lines of "Any mage with level 17 teleport want GPQ?"

Until, of course, I caught a glimpse of something in the chatbox, which was quickly pushed out of sight by someone else's chat. But it was an important something, so I scrolled up. And saw the message.

"Guild with no mage shameless".

Shameless. He called MSNoobSterZ shameless. We're shameless. You're shameless, I'm shameless. The whole guild is shameless. Shameless.

Of course, I lost control...

[Blah blah blah you all know what happened next. I won't elaborate here. Blah blah blah.]

Well, we went to look for the guy, and he did not seem remorseful at all. In fact, we even got into a mini debate on ENGLISH. Goodness. He asked me sarcastically, for the meaning of 'shameless'. Naturally my first reaction was to give him a definition in MY WAY, but I decided against it and fetched the dictionary instead.

Immodest and imprudent.

Then he lamblasted me for not knowing what 'shameless' meant. Heck, what do you know, person who says 'you is' instead of 'you are'? I know the meanings of those 2 words. So shut up. I cannot remember whose idea was it to throw a dictionary. Thank goodness I didn't listen. Because he is not worth my time.

Now, after that incident, looking back, I realised that, maybe I over-reacted a little bit. A miniscule bit. But, what someone says in-game, has to come from a real feeling, a real emotion right?

For example, (and now digressing a little) saying "I love you" to your Maple GF/BF/whatever may constitute as a simply 'virtual' thing. I mean, I have heard of people who have real life partners and who are attached virtually to a different person as well. I know, I know, different people have different 'rules' as to this, for example, some people think that you cannot have a virtual partner if you're attached in real life, etc etc etc. But that's a whole different issue, and out of our radar scope.

However, what some do not realise is that, by saying 'I love you' to someone virtually, deep down inside, you may actually mean it. Like, how do you say 'muacks' without expression in real life? Surely you must be smiling secretly to yourself in real life? Then you look forward to talking to them in Maple etc. Because, what happens to your virtual character in the game, actually affects you as well. Don't believe me? Try being angry in Maple without getting angry in real life. See? I told you so.

Another incident in which I have an unpleasant memory of, was that of the KS-ing in Spooky. Now, for those who were involved, I won't go through what happened, but for those who don't, well, basically, one of our guild members got KS-ed by a notorious KS-er from an equally notorious guild. Ahem.

Well, I won't go through the bad points for these, because firstly, many people should know what it's like to be KS-ed, and secondly, I am tired. It's 11 p.m. on New Year's Eve! I did realise one good thing though.

When our guildmate got KS-ed, people asked their buddies for help. Some of these buddies went on to call THEIR buddies for help, and some of...oh you get my point. What struck me was that some of these people, they seemed so determined to KS back the KS-er. Now, I won't say it's a good thing, but it reflects something good, at least. That people care. That people would stand up for innocent Maplers. And that's a good thing, because the world really could use people like this.

Well, tell you what. I wish to be one of those people too. To, according to CCN and wyte and numerous others, 'fight for justice' and 'defend what's right'. A Bishop spammed me for free that day. I wish to do the same thing too, when I'm a Bishop, for a Priest next time. Whilst it may be just little exp to me, whatsmore considering the pots cost, but to somebody else, it could mean a lot.

A simple act of graciousness and kindness can make somebody's day. So, go ahead, make somebody's day. Happy New Year =)

Congratulations wytemagician on achieving level 100! He is our first 'home-grown' level 100, having been with us since he was young enough to go MC (Season 1). Once, again, congratulations!

Alliance Event!

We had the alliance event today; it was organised by Nut, Xianpei and me (: Hahas.

It didn't go as well as planned. ):

We met at 4, but alot of people were late... and by 4.40, everything was still a disorganised mess! Grah. I was so frustrated. It was really maddenning.

Next time, don't jump around. Listen to our instructions. ;D

I think everything fell into place around 4.50, which was the time our event was meant to end. At least according to me. =)

For those who were not present, we basically split the people there into 2 teams. They were to decorate a Christmas tree, and the three organisers would be judging. They had to stop decorating by 5.05 (about 10 minutes or so)

Now, for the screenshots! (which are used for non-commercial purposes)

Anyway after we were done with the first part of the event, we proceeded to Shanghai, for the next part. The next part was basically this event where the 3 of us would drop stuff, then people would pick up. The one who picked up the most will be the winner.

This part of the event had problems too. Calculation errors, and people finding it really boring.

I'm sincerely sorry to those who disliked the event today.

I can tell, I am not stupid. I can tell whether you enjoy the event, just pretending to, or really hate it.

Hahas, third post today! It's a new record! Fine, maybe not. Hahas.

Ok I linked me. As in I created a weblog MAINLY for my next year's art project. This is so because then if my teacher asked for a journal full of reflections from me, I can refer her to that. =) lols. Or I don't think she would, but nevermind.

And also because I think I'll need feedback from people. So I guess it helps (: (Feedback, like "colour too contrasting" etc.) And support! It's a 10 month long project. >D I need inspiration from wherever I can get from. ._.

Ya, basically this was organised by the GuildMasters, for all of you! MSNOOBSTERZIANS! (i.e. the people in MSNoobSterZ, but I can't think of a suitable name. Say Em - as - nuub - ster - zee - an. Say it a few times, and say it fast. You'll get the pronunciation right after a while =D ) Go for the event! Strongly encouraged!

If nobody but me shows up to represent MSNoobSterZ, ~~very diu lian eh,~~ it won't be as fun, would it? =)

It all started with a passing comment.

Whilst logged in as my (noob) Aran, I noticed that there were 6 people online (finally). So I casually (and gleefully, no doubt) commented "Yay! We have achieved GPQ status!"
Then many people started saying "I want! I want to go GPQ!"

I tried, I really did try. I kept telling them "Not now.." "No, it was a COMMENT". Grah. Didn't work though.

In the end they did a VOTE -_- Majority won, so OKAY, I logged in as Rock.

We were stuck on the 2nd stage again, this time because none of the 3 mage classes present had level 17 teleport. -_-

So we stopped there.

I was kinda wondering whether the people there were volunteers, or whether they worked for Asiasoft. Because I was kinda interested in volunteering FOR FREE, maybe for next year or something, hahas. F3.

Anyways, I decided to ask someone.

Whilst my mum, my brother and I were at the cashier, paying money and collecting stuff, I approached this lady standing next to the counter.

I went, "Hello.."

He's filing a GM report, but he thinks there's not much that anyone can do now.

To all HACKERS, get a life. That doesn't involve happiness at others' expenses. Have you ever thought how the poor victim will feel? Have you ever questioned yourself so? Have you given a second thought to the consequences of your actions, or is the lure of money so tempting? So tempting that you resort to such sneaky, underhand tactics to steal from others. Yes, I say steal because it's true. Have you no sense of compassion, no sense of DIGNITY, even?

Get a life.

Hahas, couldn't think of a better title. Anyway anyway before I forget, here was what happened yesterday:

1) The MSNoobSterZ Great Race Maple!

2) GPQ!

I came in Maple around 10.30, but actually I was already using the computer since 9 (on MSN, haha). Well, around 10, it was realised that one person couldn't make it. Then we were down to 5. With only less than 1 hour left till the Race started, there was not much time left. So I logged in Maple, and found 2 of the participants already waiting in Lith Harbour. *ahem* Lols.

Then we played hide-and-seek, haha. The seeker couldn't find me ;D

When everyone came, I briefed them. However, I learnt one lesson from this: NEVER TRY TO BRIEF PEOPLE FOR MORE THAN 2 MINUTES. Their minds start wandering off. >>

So I sent them off, and headed straight to Orbis Cloud Park.

The race took much longer than expected. SORRY EVERYONE! >< (It took 2hours++ instead of the expected 1. This could have been partially due to a mass DC sometime during the race, can't remember the time)

People kept on asking me to re-confirm details and everything, and sooner or later, a misunderstanding was bound to occur. A few misunderstandings occurred, which I shall not go into detail here lest bad feelings are aroused again, but they're (hopefully) solved now, so yah. Yay!

Then we gathered at Empty House II in Ludibrium for debriefing and prize presentation. Congratulations once again to both teams! =D

Then it was decided that those (in Ludi then) who wished to go for GPQ will have to gather at Empty House II at 3, then we'll all head off to GPQ together. =)

Ya ya, I know today's blogpost isn't up to my usual standard (i.e. smileys peppering the whole post and my usual weird commentaries.)

But I'm tired, and I have this pile (once again, exaggerating~) of homework beckoning at me, and reaching out to me with its evil tendrils and calling in its raspy voice, my name.

So ya, I'm tired, and I don't think I can do it. There's an odd numbness that's not physical. I think it's psychological. It's not as though I'm sick or anything; just this feeling of surreality (if that's even a word). Like something WHOOSH just happened, something big, and I'm feeling its after effects. This is a weird feeling, which words can't describe; and even if words CAN describe, I don't think I have that capability.

Suddenly I'm back to my whiny self again. And it sickens me. I look through the previous posts (the older ones), and I ask myself: "Is this me? It doesn't seem like." And another thing bothers me, apart from the homework with its evil tendrils and raspy voice. This other thing starts with an 'E' and ends with a 'S' (or a 'N', if you must insist).

EXPECTATIONS. It's an interesting word, really. On one hand, it brings some people a certain sense of pride. On the other, it constitutes a whole load of slaving away and what not, just to meet other people's standards of you.

Sometimes you do it not for yourself, but for other people. You do things sometimes not because you really wish to, because you really yearn for the desired outcome, but instead you do it because people expect you to do so.

(Ok I'm lapsing into my weird-commentary state again, together with all the complaints and moans. But just bear with me for a little while k? This phase goes off as soon as it had arrived.)

Now, sometimes when I type here (this applies solely to these kind of posts, the long whiny draggy ones. Or at least the later part of it, haha) I go into this sort of state whereby everything around me takes a dream-like existence, and I just keep typing non-stop, eyes on the screen, not looking at the keyboard, and my thoughts just come rushing out before I even think through properly. It's almost mechanical, this feeling. I'm mouthing the words in my head whilst I type them, and my fingers just go across the keyboard. The K here, the E there, the Y placed very near the K, but a few keys from the E etc etc.

And this process just goes on and on. Till I finally derive some sort of satisfaction from the mindless, aimless typing. It doesn't come sooner, but neither do I wish for it to come later. Sometimes I wonder if I even make sense, typing all the posts in the category of "My 10 Mesos' Worth".

FYI, in this category you'll normally find the posts that are long, whiny, complainy, and draggy. But these are the ones that reflect more of who I am, rather than just comments and captions on photos. Sometimes I wonder whether anyone would read this. Even I myself, after typing it out, wouldn't even glance through. No edits, no nothing. And then, months later, when I go through them, I feel awkward, embarrased even. Then I wonder why I even typed those out in the first place. But I just get this sense of satisfaction when I do this, even though I know I can perfectly well type it out all on Notepad and stash it somewhere in the forsaken corners of Lappy (my laptop), who would never reveal it to anyone. Till of course, a few months later (again), I chance upon them, and start deleting them without even glancing twice, feeling embarrassed to have these around.

Okay I'm starting to feel that sense of satisfaction, so I guess I can stop soon. Oh wait, no, that's the feeling of urgency. The sense of need to manage my time properly, and to start my homework. It's the evil tendrils and the raspy voice, I knew it.

MSNoobSterZ New Guidelines

With effect from 8 December 2009, the following guidelines will apply. It is compulsory for members to abide by the following. Failure to do so may lead to verbal warnings, demotion or expulsion (not limited to those only).

By entering the guild “MSNoobSterZ”, you accept the following guidelines.

1. Activity

1.1 You have to login at least 3 times a week.

This 3 times need not necessarily be for training. Note that there is no time frame for you to stay online. You may choose to simply log in and then log out; that is up to you. Of course, we (i.e. the Jr Masters and yours truly, the GuildMaster) would not know how often you log in per week. But come server checks, your name and related information would be displayed as “????”. If the “????” were to stay for a prolonged period of time (i.e. for more than 3 weeks), you would be subjected to expulsion.

To continue on with the points mentioned in 1.1, let me state the rationale of this move. Kicking people out of the guild is not exactly my cup of tea, but owing to certain circumstances, let me explain. It has come to my attention that our guild is becoming less and less active. Recent feedbacks have also prompted me to push forward these new guidelines. A certain someone (shall I mention your name or shall I not?) has given me valuable insights as to how to run a guild properly. This certain someone mentioned about a ratio. Now let me elaborate on this.

1.2 The ratio

This ratio, as put forth by a member of the guild (who is experienced himself) is as follows:

In order to ensure that the guild makes good progress monthly, a certain balance has to be maintained. That is, among every 5 people, there has to be 4 active ones and 1 inactive* one. The 4 active ones would have to be “forced” to make up for that 1 inactive individual. This ratio translates into the fact that for every 20 people, there should be 16 active and 4 inactive.

*Now, before people start thinking it is contradictory, let me explain. The “inactive” individual, as denoted by the * sign, is not really “inactive” in that sense. It simply means that this person is either a) inactive for lesser than 3 weeks or b) an exception case, which I shall explain in part 1.3.

1.3 Exceptions

There would always be a few exceptional cases in the guild. These people are exempt from certain guidelines on activity. How to “become” an exception:

a) Application of leave from the GuildMaster. For example, you have your exams coming up in a few weeks’ time. You wish to revise for them and hence are unable to login for a few weeks. Ask the GuildMaster, and leave would be given (case-by-case basis). But please do not betray my trust. Never lie. However, do not expect me to give you a one-year leave. That’s absurd. To apply for this, however, you have to be specific. E.g. which date your exams start, and which date they end. You also have to provide me a start date for your leave, and an end date. The moment the end date arrives, I expect you to be back in the guild.

b) Parental consent not given. Ya, ya, that’s a rather common sight I see among the younger players. However, if you know your parents would never consent to you logging 3 times a week, LET ME KNOW ASAP. So that I can remember your names, and would not kick you out.

c) On a case-by-case basis.

2. General behaviour

Many of you are generally well-behaved. However there would always be the occasional black sheep who would tarnish the guild name. Let me lay down several regulations.

2.1 Mind your manners

Be mindful of others. I am not asking you to be a Mr. or Miss. Courtesy, but showing a basic level of respect to other players is not asking much actually. Refrain (I say refrain because I am human too) from scolding others and/or humiliating them publicly. Respect general guidelines.

2.2 No begging

If you need mesos, either get them yourself or ask nicely from friends. DO NOT BEG PUBLICLY. However, you also acknowledge the fact that we (Members of the guild) are at no obligation to help you. Repeated asking / begging (for example, but not limited to, "Mesos pl0x" [Mesos please]) may get you a verbal warning. This is on a case-by-case basis. Members of the guild may render assistance, but they should never be forced to give money or other items.

2.3 No kill-stealing (KS-ing)

Do not KS. It does not reflect well on you or on the guild. If you are caught KS-ing, a verbal warning would be issued. However, if you still choose to KS other people even after repeated warnings, you would face demotion or expulsion. This is on a case-by-case basis. Moreover, I may make you apologise to the victim(s).

3. Guild-related guidelines

3.1 Information

The Bulletin Board System (BBS) and the guild weblog are channels of communication between members of the guild. Occasionally, information would be dispatched via these means. To keep up to date, you are strongly encouraged to regularly check on them, especially the BBS. If the information is really relevant/interesting, a brief note would be placed in the Guild Notice (in Maple, it is the scrolling marquee below the guild name when you press “Guild”. You get what I mean.) Please remember to mind your manners when writing in either the BBS or in the guild weblog’s tagboard.

3.2 Donations

You may be asked occasionally for small sums of money to donate to Guild Funds. You do not have to feel obliged to give donations. You do not have to donate.

3.3 Guild activities

You also acknowledge the fact that occasionally, we may ask you to join in celebrations (for example, but not limited to, Guild Birthday celebrations etc). IT IS NOT COMPULSORY TO ATTEND THESE EVENTS. However you are strongly encouraged to go.

3.4 Miscellaneous

You accept the fact that on no grounds can you hold any of the guild members responsible for any losses incurred by you. (i.e. we will not be responsible for anything that you lose or any damages you suffer). We may choose to offer a small compensation, but at no obligation; on a case-by-case basis.

If you are unable to understand any of the above, kindly approach the GuildMaster for clarification.

THIS WILL OVERWRITE ALL OTHER CURRENT GUIDELINES/TERMS AND CONDITIONS. Note that this document may change from time to time.

That's really fast!! 2 weeks away from Singapore. Returning on the 26 Nov, in the morning. :o

Hey all!

Came up with a list of inititatives for our guild! Yay!

Suggestions are:
1. Person Days

It sounds weird, but I'll explain it. Take for example..er...me! So on my birthday, we can have a RockOwnerXD Day. Lols! Sounds kinda weird, but rather interesting (: Then on that day whenever you see Rock, you are strongly encouraged to wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Lols.

2. Animal Days

Ok I'll explain. I was unable to come up with a better term, so this has to suffice I guess. For example, we can declare Monday (in the school holidays, of course) as "Quack-like-a-Duck Day". So whenever you meet a guildmember, you are strongly encouraged to greet with quacks! For example, "Hey! Quack quack!" Hahas, but if they forget or if they look at you with weird expressions, you can tell them it's "Quack-like-a-Duck Day"!

Whatsmore, if you meet them in the map, you are encouraged to greet them in "ALL" chat i.e. everyone can see you quack. Hahas, and that person is encouraged to do the same thing too. Of course if you do not wish to, it's ok.

There'll be other days too, for example, "Moo like a Cow", "Croak like a Frog" etc etc. (:

3. The Neemem and the Noof

a) Neemem

Ok before you go "huh??" PLEASE LET ME EXPLAIN. Okay, Neemem is short form for Needy Members. It's hard to pronounce NM as a word, so I put it this way. In any case, Neemem sounds more catchy. Well, then let me introduce Neemem.

Neemem is a fund for those currently in MSNoobSterZ who need mesos. Mind you, NEED, not WANT. This applies especially to those who have just started playing, or whose accounts have been hacked (touch wood!) etc etc. If you think you qualify tell me, RockOwnerXD, your Guildmaster. (:

Members can choose to contribute to Neemem (provided of course, we have at least ONE person who requires the money). It is not compulsory. Please pass your mesos to Rock. She keeps transparent accounts. (The balance of the Neemem Fund would be updated regularly in BBS).

Note that Neemem only applies to those who are currently in the guild at time of request. Ex-guildmembers fall under Noof (kindly refer to the next section on Noof).

b) Noof.

Noof is a similar initiative by silentXD, who is represented by his other character currently in our guild, QuietlyPunch. Before you start laughing, Noof is actually the short form for Noob Foundation.

The objectives of Noof are similar to that of Neemem, however Noof caters to those not in our guild. Note that associates and alliance members fall in these categories. For example, Neemem CANNOT be used to help people who are not in our guild currently. Ex-guildmembers fall under Noof. Alliance members fall under Noof. Random strangers fall under Noof.

Guildmembers can contribute to Noof. It is not compulsory. Mesos are passed to QuietlyPunch (silentXD).

Notes on Neemem and Noof

Neemem and Noof ARE DIFFERENT in terms of target audience. Please read the above again if you are still confused. Neemem helps GUILDMEMBERS (donations are passed to Rock, who will in turn pass it to the ones who need it). Noof appeals to a larger base audience (i.e. IT HELPS THE REST). Do not confuse the two of them.

Obviously if you wish to pass the mesos to them (those who need it) directly, feel free to do so.

WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING DONATIONS JUST YET. Until people sign up to become applicants. (We do not see the point of collecting mesos when nobody's benefiting just yet.)

4. The Great Mesos Exchange

Ok this idea is lame, but I'll write it here anyway. Ok it goes something like this:

Person A and B are in MSNoobSterZ.

Person A decides to initiate. So he trades with B.

At this point the trade window opens. So A decides to trade to B 100 mesos.

A puts up 100 mesos. B (who is aware that this is The Great Mesos Exchange) offers up 100 mesos too! Hahas, then they trade.

It's lame but ya. It's kinda funny. :D

However bear in mind not to trade anything more than 1000 mesos as the other person may not be carrying so much around. ASK THE PERSON BEFORE YOU INITIATE THE TRADE.

Ohya do not do this with others who are not in our guild. They will think we are up to no good. ):

Gather round! Gather round! For I have important things to tell you all today.

Guildmates and fellow friends, what say we start planning for a GPQ soon?

Many of you've all been looking forward to a GPQ, especially *cough* a certain someone who wishes to obliterate Ergoth. Well, I have decided to start planning for a GPQ!

We need 6 per party, so with enough luck maybe we can get 2 parties, or 1.

Well, owing to past experiences, we know that the problem with our GPQs is that there is never enough people. My brother and I can solve that problem, by getting another character in. So that's three already.

Just need 3 more!!

And another important point is regarding the date and time. This is another problem we face.

Can those who are interested indicate your interest in either our BBS in the game or the tagboard here? Thanks! And indicate when you are free!

Ok I know I am not meant to be posting, but this is rather important and serious.

Recently, I did a search on our guildname on the Internet. I found one website which I do not know, nor have heard of, nor support, that had OUR GUILDNAME in it. Yes our guildname. However when I clicked on the link the website was some (illegal) movie downloading site, and a search on the web page found no hint of "MSNoobSterZ".

However, when I looked at the cache snapshot of the page (dated 20 Sep 2009), I found MSNoobSterZ in the text, mixed up with a mish-mash of sentences. It's really nonsensical.

It's not a very good website, and I am really worried for anybody who may stumble on there by mistake. So please let me remind all of you WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY WEBSITES/BLOGS THAT MENTION "MSNOOBSTERZ" IN IT. Go at your own risk, but I'm just warning you first.

So please do not jump to conclusions. Thank you. Oh ya, and beware on what you click on.

This is a random post.

I don't know what to write, but I'm going to try to fill up the space anyway because I haven't posted in some time, and this post is just to prove that MSNoobSterZ is still around.

Okay yay NOW it has a purpose. :D

The point of this post is to let the world know that MSNoobSterZ is still - yes - alive.

And also to inform that I - RockOwnerXD - would not be logging in as often for the next 3 weeks or so, because I have my end-of-year examinations coming and I do not wish to fail and be retained.

So, I'm going to hopefully devote more time to studying for this coming 3 weeks, and play less.

This is just to notify you all, so that you all don't go: "Where's Rock?" "Oh no!" "Rock is becoming inactive?" (No I am not.)

Ya, so hope you all will understand. But I think for those who are schooling, your exams are coming soon too, right?

So...uh...study hard! Yes. Study hard. Play hard. After exams can play! Yay! :D

Look on the bright side. Don't think of your exams coming in a few weeks, don't think of you dreading the exams, don't think of yourself studying real hard for it. Hahas. Much like the pink elephant thing. (For those who don't know...ahem. 'Do not think of a pink elephant in a blue room'. Stop thinking about it!) Aha. :D

No, seriously, study hard play hard. :)
